During the year 2002-3
Oadby Trinity supported the MHA
care group's "Live at Home" scheme.
MHA Care group, (formally known as Methodist Homes for the Aged) is
very familiar to us here in Oadby because of the nearby Aigburth residential
home.
However it also runs fifty-one "Live at Home" schemes in
the UK and this part of MHA Care Group's work is fast growing and popular.
As the name suggests, the "Live at Home" scheme supports
older people by enabling them to continue to live in their own homes.
It offers lunch clubs, drop-in centres and day trips for members and
also the chance to build new friendships with volunteers. These volunteers
also offer ongoing company and support for members in the home. The
nearest schemes to Leicester are in Derby and Newark, but the project
is expanding all the time, find out if there is a Residential Care
scheme near you by clicking

MHA Care Group estimates that it needs an extra £5 million every
year to keep all it's projects running. Although we have one special
collection per year for MHA Care Group, on Methodist Homes Sunday,
we felt that the relatively new,
(since the 1990's) "Live at Home" scheme deserved Trinity's
special support during 2002-3.
More information on MHA Care Group can be found on their Website.
